Establishment of Intellectual Property Management Unit of ICAR-NBAIM marked the beginning of IPR regime primarily focusing towards management of IPR portfolio and transfer/commercialization of technologies at institute level. An attempt has been made for promotion of creation, dissemination, use and protection of intellectual property for socio-economic prosperity as one of the activities of IPR cell established in the institute.

  • Proper implementation of ICAR guidelines for IP management and technology transfer/ commercialization
  • Increase awareness and enhancing literacy for IPR and capacity building

  • Patent/IPR/prior art search,

Under ICAR Plan Scheme on “National Agriculture Innovation Fund –Component 1” management of the IP of the institute as well as guiding scientists and researchers for disclosure of IP contemplated or generated, patent searches, copyrights, efforts for commercialization of technologies, management of professional service functions at Bureau, etc. is being carried out. Besides this various extention and awarness activities relating to Intellectual Property Rights both inside and outside institute are being carried out by PI cum I/c IPR Dr Renu and Research Associate, Dr Khan Mohd Sarim working in the scheme. Few activities and achievements under the scheme are:

  • Management of IP portfolio , technology commercialization and professional service functions of the Bureau
  • Conducting ITMC meetings as and when required
  • Processing for commercialization of technologies from ICAR-NBAIM through M/s Agriinovate and showcasing them on Agriinnovate website as well as on various foras.
  • Processing and follow up of Patent and copy right cases in respective Offices.
  • Preparation of Draft Terms of Trade and technology license agreement with Agrinnovate as well as draft MoUs for licensing and commercialization of various technologies from Bureau with industries.
  • Fixation of rate for supply of cultures to private companies for commercial purpose
  • Guiding scientists and researchers for disclosure of IP contemplated or generated, patent searches, copyrights, etc.

  • Copyright for database of www.mgrportal.org.in granted [authors: Renu, Udai Bhan Singh, Hillol Chakdar, Arjun Singh; Applicant :Director, ICAR- NBAIM ] Registration number L-78707/2018 granted on 31/10/2018
  • Published technical bulletin on “Intellectual Property Rights: Facts and Procedures in India” and Informative bilingual leaflet on “Intellectual Property Rights: An Overview published from ICAR-NBAIM for wide distribution to researchers for their information to create awareness about IPRs.

      • ‘Poster Presentation Award (First)’ for the poster entitled as “Sustainable enrichment and security of microbial agri-biotech inventions through Intellectual Property Rights: Indian context” presented during 2nd UP Agricultural Science Congress organized by UP Council of Agricultural Research on 14th June 2014 to 16th June 2014 at IISR, Lucknow.
      • Poster Presentation Award 2012 in International Conference on Impact of Technological Tools on Food Security under Global Warming Scenario (ITTFS-2012) held at Shobit University, Meerut from 11-12 May, 2013 on poster entitled “Global Scenario in Patenting System: Microbiological Perspective”.

Activities under NAIF project (2019-20):

  • Management of IP portfolio, technology commercialization and professional service functions of the Bureau
  • Conducted seven meetings of ITMC dated 23.03.2019, 07.05.2019, 31.07.2019, 09.08.2019, 1.10.2019, 21.10.2019 and 16.12.2019

  • Follow up and submission of responses to FER of two patent cases patent no. 1287/DEL/2015 and 1170/DEL/2015 from ICAR-NBAIM through empanelled attorney.
  • Preparation of Draft Terms of Trade and technology license agreement with Agrinnovate w.r.t. Bio NPK and Bio Zn for PRITHVI AGRICARE P LTD
  • Fixation of rate for supply of microbial cultures to private companies for commercial purpose  as Rs 1 lakh for biofertilizer and Rs 2 lakh per culture for use as biopesticide in consultation with Dr Sudha, CEO Agln and Dr Sanjeev Saxena, ADG (IP & TM)
  • An MoU draft and Technology License agreement copy was prepared for transfer of 4 technologies to Director (Horticulture),  Punjab
  • Submission of information for DARE/ICAR Annual Report – 2019-20 of National Agriculture Innovation Fund (NAIF) Component-I (Innovation Fund) from ICAR-NBAIM from 01stNovember, 2018 to 31stOctober, 2019
